Souls Asleep B'neath The Tree

On All Hallows Eve, the spirits of the dead leave their graves to haunt the living world. Children dress in ghoulish costumes so that the souls of the dead will mistake them for one of their own and leave them be. On November first, the families of those dead souls light candles around the graves so that when they return, the spirits will be able to find their way home with ease. They leave flowers on the concrete plots so the spirits will know they are missed. This tradition is called All Saint's Day and it is a beautiful tradition that I attempt to see every year. If you ever find yourself in Lacombe, Louisiana around Halloween, stick around until November first and see this, it still knocks me speechless every time I see it, it's always so beautiful.
